Phil Epp was born in Nebraska on a crop and cattle farm and now lives and works in Kansas. Epp is strongly imprinted into the open spaces of the Great Plains he grew up in and continues to travel, photograph and paint empty Western vistas. His work reflects a celebration of open sky and landscape with hints of human occupation – the paintings are seldom about a specific location, but more an imagined landscape containing familiar feelings. In 2017 Epp was inducted into the Cowboy Artists Hall of America – a rare honor.
